Training in a deficit is not the one. So pleased to be back under the bar though, even if it is with baby weights. Just goes to show what some rehabilitation, confidence and advice from the right people can do!
Last Saturday, my friends and I did something a little different - we went to a fab Tedx talk in Kingston. . For those who haven't been, Tedx talks are a collection of speakers who have 18 minutes to talk about their favourite topic. The event we went to covered everything from how a woman got Google to add wheelchair access options to Maps to Russian orphanages, drug and alcohol addiction to SAS training. All really interesting but the one that made my ears really prick up was about pain (no surprise there!). . Is pain a sensation or a perception, asked the speaker. Do we feel pain or just sense it? The answer really is both. How often do you moan about hitting your elbow, before the pain kicks in? Have you ever hit your head and been shocked before the pain kicks in? . It's definitely something I see a lot in clinic - people being scared of being in pain, worried about if treatment will hurt and if moving will make their pain worse. Pain has a huge psychological component to it and it's vital that osteopaths like myself acknowledge that and help you to conquer your fears. This is how we help you long term - getting you better now and helping you to change your perception of pain in the future. Find yourself an osteo who does this - not just someone who cracks you and sends you on your way!
A N N O U N C E M E N T Hi all! I hope you're well. Those eagle eyed of you may have noticed already but I have now left the Surrey Clinic, Wallington. It was a super tough decision as I love the team there but trying to balance three clinics has been impossible with my clinic at Kings Gym growing so quickly. I'm so incredibly lucky to be in a profession that I love and to have had the Kings clinic take off as it has. I'm sorry to be leaving the team at the Surrey Clinic but wish them all the best going forward! Thank you for having me! This means I am now based at @kingsgymofficial Croydon Monday to Saturday, excluding Wednesdays when I'm with Charlotte Hunt Osteopaths in Coulsdon. For more info on appointments and treatments, head over to www.ljosteopathy.co.uk or give me a call on 07840130294. Bye for now!
Happy New Year! Here's to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2020! . . . #osteopathyworks #osteopathy #osteopath #holiday #newyear #happynewyear #2020 #celebration #celebrate #happy #healthy #prosperity
